Ceramic polish by Chi, yes, the flat iron people!

I'm always on the hunt for new nail polish, whether its colors or brands. Needless to say I was a tad bit excited when I received TWO free bottles Of Chi Ceramic Nail polish prepackaged with my Ultra Chi from Ulta.

Sunday night I found myself bored and filing ny nails. I figured I would try out the polish only because I have seen Chi polish before, but I think of them as styling tools, moreso, flat irons. So I wondered if they knew anything about nail polish.

The polish, Mucho Mocha Loca, went on easy with the regular two coats, then the top coat. It actually dried pretty fast to my surprise. It never fails that when I polish my nails at night, I fall asleep shortly after and wake up with sheet imprints on my freshly painted nails. This was not the case.

I went along with my normal day, but I noticed after showering that the polish on my thumb was lifting. As the day continued, I noticed more peeling and chipping on some of the other nails as well.

I'm slightly disappointed but glad that I didn't spend money on the polish itself. I've seen the array of colors that Chi offers in nail polishes and they are pretty. Perhaps I'll try other colors and stick with the China Glaze top coat!

Crystal Renn's romantic obsession with plastic surgery; Vogue Paris

Not really! In December/January issue of Vogue Paris, Tom Ford explores plastic surgery from a romantic perspective. While I have clearly stated that I do not feel that Ms Renn is a plus size model, that still doesn't change the fact that she is definitely fierce and downright sexy. Yes, even wrapped in gauze.

In “La Panthère Ose,” Renn's impossibly full lips, high cheekbones and surgical gauze express an image of extraordinary transformation. The use of light and shadows is incredible.

Shoe-gasm; Sam Edelman

In my 28 years, I have never once bought a pair of designer shoes. The most that I've paid for shoes is around $80 and those were gym shoes.

I was wandering around downtown Long Beach yesterday in search of an internet cafe and jobs. My wandering lead me right into Nordstrom Rack. I skimmed over the skimpy plus size selection then headed over to shoes. At a size 11, I always heard that Nordstrom Rack was the best place for quality shoes for a foot my size. I must confess, I just discovered The Rack when I was in Chicago. The prices on the shoes are actually decent, but me being unemployed makes it hard for me to buy things that I want.

Until, I came across these gorgeous black suede platform heels from Sam Edelman! I slipped one on and it was love. I checked out the price tag...OUCH! The $109.90 price tag made me a but dizzy and would certainly leave a dent in my already shallow pockets. So I admired them for a little longer and placed them back on the shelf.

I continued walking around waiting for Ryan to catch up with me for lunch. I gushed to him about the shoes and how sexy they were. Him being a shoe man, I knew that he would love them. After chowing down on pizza, hit wings and a frosty mug of Blue Moon, we headed back to Nordstrom Rack so I could show him. He looked at the shoes, then he looked back at me and said, "Babe, these are fucking sexy, you have to have them."

And so I did. I felt guilt as I swiped my debit card and I will probably not eat for a week. But ultimately I bought the shoes for a few reasons. One, its an early birthday gift to myself and two, I have never owned anything that is high end, let alone a comfy pair of heels. So that is that. I'm talking myself out of the guilt, I deserve these shoes.

They are so sexy, I could walk around all day in them.

Have you ever experienced guilt after splurging on an item that maybe you shouldn't have bought because of your budget?

The LA Fatshion Bloggers host Curvy Cocktails!

Thanks to Cid, I have a moment to catch up! And while I'm on her computer, I'm also borrowing some of the pictures. Cid, as usual, has some great posts on Full Figure Fashion Week(end)tm LA, so make sure you head over to Cid Style File to catch up!

Last week, FFFWeek(end) kicked off at the X-Bar located in the Hyatt Regency Century City. Curvy Cocktails was an informal meet and great hosted by the LA Fatshion Bloggers...a chance to mingle and get to know the fab women that we would more than likely be spending the next 3 days with!

The beautiful and sweet Fluvia Lacerda with SoyFashionista.com
I arrived with Cid to X-Bar only to be greeted by the beautiful Monique of Curves and Chaos. She greeted us with small goodie bags filled with China Glaze polish, Ardell Lashes and Philosophy beauty samples. It was at that time that she also entered everyone for a raffel! We all wrote our name on paper for a chance to win some cool prizes from Torrid, Sonsi, Kurvee and Bali.
My sister by way of twitter, Marie Denee of the Curvy Fashionista bombarded me with hugs! I was stoked to finally meet the woman that I have been confiding in after all this time.

Myself sitting with Cid and the charming Ivory

All the ladies in attendance were even more gorgeous and stunning in person than they were in their pictures.

We call this mingling

Cid, Monique and Gabby

Chatting it up with Maddy of PLUS Model Magazine
I hid from the camera for most of the night because I thought I looked very tired. Soooo, I didn't take pictures, but I thank Cid, yes again, for letting me use these pictures.

The night was a success! Tons of fun, I hope to have the LA Fatshion Bloggers host something else very very soon. We definitely had a great time and made a lot of memories! <3

Are you still with me?

Hey everyone! I know its been a while since I last posted something of substance. I have my computer, just no internet access. Hopefully, whenever my deposit comes back from my last apt, I will be able to buy a netbook or something in the meantime so I can catch you all up!

I am going to post all my info on the wonderful Full Figure Fashion Week(end)™ LA, but I want to make sure you are all still with me.

Financially, things have been slightly strained and I'm dealing with a sickness in my family all while attempting to adjust to California living. I never meant to take a hiatus, but if I have to hang out in the internet cafe a few times during the week so that I can maintain my blog and keep in the know, so be it. I miss you all!!! :) I hate not being in the loop!
