Show and tell Monday; How I Met Your Father

I have to thank Carissa for her Monday feature link up created by From Mrs. to Mama. I absolutely love this feature and it should definitely get me into the groove of making sure I'm posting much more throughout the week.

How I Met Your Father...

1. Tell us about how and when you met your love and what attracted you most to him.

I actually "met" Ryan on facebook in 2009. I wasn't looking for a man friend, let alone a boyfriend. But he tagged a good friend of mine in a comedy video that he posted, so I watched. While watching the video, I kept thinking, "This man is hilarious! And he's cute!" So I sent him a friend request. I still have the messages that he sent me when he declared that I was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Pft! I knew better. He lived in L.A. (I was in transition at the time, moving from Pontiac, MI to  Chicago).

We exchanged banter on facebook and finally exchanged numbers and started sending innocent text messages. The text messages turned into phone calls as I would drive back and forth from Chicago to Pontiac retrieving all of my belongings. We talked about absolutely everything, the flirting was very minimal. I just really enjoyed his conversations. Some days, I was his audience of one as he practiced his new material with me.

At that point, I still didn't think anything of our exchanges. Although he was incredibly attractive (win!) and funny (double win!), I knew that I we lived 2,000 miles apart. I kept a realistic view of our new friendship and figured we'd just be those great internet buddies. And all was good...

Until he told me that he liked me. I thought he was some sort of crazy stalker! We've only been talking for a couple months. So I immediately cut off communication for a few weeks. But then, I started missing his calls. His voice. His jokes! So I reached out to him through a text and we slowly but surely picked up where we left off.

We talked about wanting a family and compared notes on our crazy relationships. Somewhere in between, we fell for each other. Hard. He would hint at the idea of being in love with me. I'd say he was crazy, but deep inside, I felt something for him. It was more than friendship.

He pretty much sealed the deal in December 2009 when he sent me a birthday package with a webcam, a wife beater with his cologne and a sock monkey. In February 2010, he proved to me that he was into making this long distance relationship work when he flew into Chicago Valentines Day weekend to meet face to face.

We spent the entire weekend together attached at the hip. The chemistry was electric! That weekend, he officially became my "b-fran."

2. Show us the very first {or one of the first} pictures you guys ever took together.

These are from Valentines Day weekend 2010, our first official weekend together! We had so much fun.

3. Tell us some of your favorite memories that you two had together.

Meeting for the first time.
Spending our first weekend together in Chicago.
Spending the weekend with him in L.A.
Driving my car cross country 2,200 miles.
Halloween at Universal Studios.
Getting our first positive pregnancy test.

4. Tell us your favorite qualities about this man, what makes him "the one."

His sense of humor has always been what I love about him. He always makes me laugh and there is never a dull moment. He is kind and has a good heart. I mean, he HAS to be the one, I drove cross country for this man! ha! I've honestly never imagined myself settling down with someone until I met him. I've loved guys in the past, but I can actually see myself having tons of babies with this man, and growing old together.

5. Tell us what your "date nights" typically look like.

Hmm, usually dinner and the movies. That's what he likes to do. We are trying to get more creative and try new things. Honestly, nothing beats curling up on the couch with him and our dog, Sammy, and watching Dexter.
